Box Newels
When the handrail of a balustrade system is supported with a newel that hasn't been carved on a lathe, it is called a box newel. By creating and applying different architectural features, our artisans at Beautiful Custom Stairs are able to give a basic box newel character.
Boxed newels can be large bold statements that appear at the foot of the stairway and repeat at intervals in the railing system. By incorporating raised or recessed panels, a few square wood pieces can be transformed by our artisans into an architectural focal point.
Inlays of different materials can bring unexpected attention to an unpretentious design. Colored glass may catch a ray of light from a nearby window, pieces of copper or stainless steel could replicate a business logo and an inlaid piece of ceramic can be used to complement flooring. The craftsmen at Beautiful Custom Stairs have the tools and expertise to assist in any design phase of a balustrade system.
Some of our clients like a particular style of box newel that is commonly manufactured. We work with several reputable companies who provide quality pieces at reasonable prices. Our goal is to offer our client the best stair system for their budget.
